Len is regarded as one of the world's finest Burns Speakers and enjoys the coveted distinction of having proposed the Immortal Memory on every continent. He holds the prestigious position of Dean of the Guild of Robert Burns Speakers. In addition, he's also a distinguished writer and the text for this CD originated from his pen. In 1882 the Burgh of Govan Police Pipe Band was the first pipe band to be formed outwith the ranks of the Military. 1912 saw Govan Burgh annexed by Glasgow and the Band became the City of Glasgow Police Pipe Band. 1975 brought local government re-organisation and the Band took its current name of Strathclyde Police Pipe Band. Since 1920, the Band has won 21 World Championship titles including the six successive year wins between 1981-86 ; a record that remains unbeaten to date. This is the first time Strathclyde Police Pipe Band have recorded with a solo artist.
